How we give back

Following the lead of CEO Bernie Francis, Business Control Systems (BCS) team members actively support the communities we serve. We sponsor and participate in a variety of programs, including:

Texas Scholars Program

Texas Scholars Program is a community-driven effort that brings together individuals from the education and business sectors. The program helps students and their parents understand that good, well-paying jobs go to those who have prepared themselves by obtaining a sound academic education. As part of this program, BCS mentors students in Texas schools and reinforces the importance and viability of careers in technology. BCS has worked with Bealey Middle School in North Dallas and Zumwalt in South Dallas.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)

BCS has partnered with United Guaranty, in Greensboro, NC to sponsor United Guaranty’s Team Walk for JDRF. Tony Skipper, Vice President and Chief eBusiness Officer for United Guaranty said: “I greatly appreciate the support both from Business Control Systems and from your staff. Thank you!”

Charlotte Chamber’s Adopt-a-School Program

The BCS Charlotte Branch participates in the Adopt-a-School program focused on area middle schools. We have provided one-on-one technical tutoring for students to help them prepare for the North Carolina State Computer Literacy Tests. We have also assisted teachers with network services and internet instruction. Finally, BCS has sponsored Technology Week, which rewards students for using technology in the classroom.

YouthNetwork

YouthNetwork provides transition and emergency shelter housing, along with counseling services.

To facilitate communication for troubled youth and families in crisis, BCS supplied a technical web development team to YouthNetwork.

Christmas Explorer Program

The Christmas Explorer Program, driven by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, provides gifts to disadvantaged families in the Carolinas’ region. BCS is an active partner with the police department, and to date, we have donated more than 500 gifts to this program.

United Way

BCS has partnered with Duke Energy to support the United Way, which brings communities together to focus on the most important needs in the community. BCS has been a Gold Sponsor for the Duke Energy Information Technology United Way Campaign Golf Tournament, raising almost $60,000.
